Upcoming Textile Exhibits

1–2 minutes

Hey there, fiber friends! 🍂 With fall settling in, this week we’ll be cozying up to some needle-felted sweaters and taking a peek at a few collaborative textile art projects that are sure to inspire. Here is the line up:

Monday, October 20 1:30-3:30 PM Needle Felting Sweaters

Bring a sweater with a hole and learn how to needle felt to repair the hole. We will also have small sweater pieces to practice on. No materials required. This visible mending circle is at the loft at Cherrydale Library, 2190 North Military Rd, Arlington, Virginia 22207. Visit Arlington Public Library for more information.

Friday, October 24 11 AM – 2 PM Arlington Weaves’ Tactile Journey exhibit

Experience an interactive “please touch” pop-up exhibition of textile art by the Arlington Weaves, Etc. artists at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center at 333 Long Bridge Dr, Arlington VA 22202. Featured among the collection is a collaborative art piece featuring freehand darning, SpeedWeve loom darning, and hand stitching from Art on the Mend’s skill share day from Spin Weave Week.

Saturday, November 22 11 AM GWU Textile Museum Tour

The George Washington University Textile Museum is going to give Art on the Mend a guided tour of their exhibit entitled Source Material: Lessons in Responsible Fashion. The tour will be one hour and the rest of the museum will be open to explore without a guide. The Textile Museum suggests a donation of $8, but all are welcome even without a donation.

Hope to see you soon!
