Sustainable Art and Fashion

1–2 minutes

Hello! I want to share a quick reminder about two exciting upcoming events where we can connect and dive into art and sustainable fashion together.

Friday, October 10 6-7 PM – Art, Style, and Sustainable Fashion

Arlington Artist Alliance is hosting a talk on Art, Style, and Sustainable Fashion as part of their Art Connects Talk Series at the Arlington Artists Alliance. Here is the link to RSVP.

One of the speakers Katrina Orsini curated the exhibit entitled Source Material: Lessons in Responsible Fashion at the GWU Textile Museum.

Group Tour of Source Material: Lessons in Responsible Fashion

We are hoping to work with Katrina Orsini to have a group tour of the museum including the above exhibit in the coming weeks. The suggested donation is $8. I will share an RSVP link once we have a date scheduled.

Community Darning and Art Making with ArlingtonWeaves, Etc.

Lastly, I want to say a big thank you to yesterday’s Mend-tors who shared their darning and stitching skills with over 20 artists and staff from ArlingtonWeaves, Etc. as part of National Spin and Weave Week. And thank you to ArlingtonWeaves, Etc. for the opportunity to collaborate with them and admire their beautiful hand-loomed textiles. The artists created a community art piece together using their textiles along with upcycled and hand-dyed textiles, darning, and stitching for an upcoming pop-up exhibition called Tactile Journey on October 24th, 11 AM – 2 PM, at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center, 333 Long Bridge Drive, Arlington VA 22202. In the meantime, here is a sneak peek at some of their work, staff, and volunteer Mend-tors.

Hope to see you soon!
