Happy National Spin Weave Week! ArlingtonWeaves is hosting textile art programs to celebrate all week.
Today, quilting artist Linda Cooper shared how to use a quilting technique called snippets. Snippets involve assembling and ironing on small pieces of fabric to create images. I had a great time and made a We All Belong banner for our programs. For more information on their open house textile programs this week, visit here.
Here is a list of upcoming Art on the Mend programs:

Wednesday, October 8, 10:00-2:00 – Darning
ArlingtonWeaves invited me to host a darning workshop on Wednesday, October 8, from 10-2 with a noon-1:00 break for lunch. We will be mending sweater squares and sewing them them to a hand-woven runner that will be displayed in their upcoming pop-up exhibition called Textile Journey at Long Bridge Aquatic Center (more on that later). Please email me at alison@artonthemend.org if you would like to volunteer.❤️ ArlingtonWeaves is located at 2110 Washington Boulevard, Sequoia II, Third Floor, Suite 301, Arlington, VA 22204. If you would like a preview of using the SpeedWeve loom, check out this 15-minute video.

Monday, October 13 1:30-3:30 – Work Party
Off of work on Indigenous Peoples’ Day? Join us for a work party at Cherrydale Library where we prepare donated and upcycled materials for upcoming programs. We will cut material for practice mending and patches, and we will stitch sashiko thimbles. Community work parties enable us to continue offering programs at no cost to participants. So come on down!
Hope to see you soon!
