You are invited to join Art on the Mend for our first public event this Sunday. We will be making felt patches at Fort C. F. Smith Park for Living History Day on Sunday, June 8th, from noon to 4 pm. Come make a patch and learn about opportunities to become a volunteer “Mend-tor” with Art on the Mend. No experience is required.
Patches have long been used to express “esprit de corps,” which is a French phrase that refers to the sense of unity, loyalty, and camaraderie among members of a group or organization.
Living History Day will feature live music, demonstrations, and activities for kids and adults. The event and workshop is free. The park is located at 2411 24th Street North, Arlington, VA 22207. Register here or just show up.

About Art on the Mend
Art on the Mend helps make it easy for communities to gather and learn visible mending. We team up with hosting organizations to bring programs right to their spaces—with capable Mend-tors, supplies, and a warm, welcoming vibe. We are a collaborative effort connecting volunteer Mend-tors, hosting organizations, and donated supplies and upcycled textiles to create a culture of creativity, repair, and inclusion.
In-kind Donations
We welcome in-kind donations at all of our programs. Donations will be used to supplement our pilot programs this summer. Currently, we have a middle school club at Affordable Homes and Communities (AHC) and an adult mending circle to be announced soon at Cherrydale Library.
