Open Labs are days when you can bring anything to mend and the advice is free flowing. Sometimes, we have featured guests who share their art or practice with us while we mend. This Tuesday, August 18th, 2-4 PM at Cherrydale Library, we are lucky to have Suzanne Redois sharing her work with us.
Suzanne is a multimedia artist and textile designer from France.🇫🇷 She is passionate about hand embroidery and diverse printing techniques, she blends both mediums with an emphasis on scale, color, and texture. She explores the concept of ‘emotional durability‘ through hand embroidery and print techniques.

“In a world where fast fashion and programmed obsolescence have taken over, using hand embroidery to add longevity and emotional durability to a garment is something really important to her. Keeping alive century old techniques such as gold work and tambour beading are essential to help move forwards and reinvent embroidery. The idea of mixing old techniques and contemporary materials in order to make something beautiful to be kept forever is what drives her every day as an individual to create.”
Suzanne’s work will be great inspiration for the following week when we will be learning embroidery mending.
